As a committee, we arrange exchanges and organise hosting for exchangees that are coming to visit Northern Ireland, and support members before, during and after they embark on a trip".

Frequently Asked Questions
I've never been away on my own before, can I go as part of a group?
Of course! There are opportunities to travel as part of a group, and this is a great way to venture out of your comfort zone before you take the step to travelling solo. Never worry, when members have their first time away from home, the vast majority are nervous, but they always enjoy the trips and say they only wish they did it sooner.
How can YFCU support me on my trip?
Members are given an information pack which contains everything from the itinerary to the finer details, ensuring they feel confident before they begin their journey. You can also reach out to the Travel committee or staff at Headquarters if you have any questions, and the best people to speak to are the ones that have went on a similar trip, so they can advise of any tips.
Are there any requirements
to apply for a travel experience?
Each trip has its own criteria, but previous YFCU travel experience is highly recommended for the Rural Youth Europe European Rally. As this is one of our most demanding travel opportunities, members are generally expected to have taken part in previous YFCU trips before they apply for the Rally. This is to have gained valuable experience and get a taster of what's expected.
Is there an interview for every trip?
Yes. All members are invited to attend an interview with the YFCU Travel Committee and a representative from the Young Farmers Ambassadors board. Interviews usually take place in January each year and give you the opportunity to ask questions, share your experience, and demonstrate why you would be a great ambassador for YFCU.
