Why Canada?
Canada is one of the world’s most innovative agricultural nations. With vast land resources, world-leading sustainability practices and cutting-edge agri-technology, it offers exceptional learning opportunities across sectors such as:

During the tour, participants will visit farms, agribusinesses, and research centres while meeting farmers, industry leaders and rural young people.

The tour aims to:

Applicants will complete an online application form and may be invited to an interview. Selection will be based on:

✨ Who Can Apply?
This opportunity is open to motivated YFCU members who are:

Aged 21 or over by 1 June 2026, up to 30 years old

Fully paid members of YFCU
-
Passionate about agriculture and personal development

Willing to take part in pre-tour preparation and post-tour knowledge sharing
Previous travel experience is not required — we welcome enthusiastic applicants from all agricultural backgrounds.

Key information
Trip Itinerary
👉 26th June fly from Dublin to Calgary
✅ Explore ranches, local businesses, research centres, local stampedes and farms
✅ Farms will include range of agri sectors such as beef, dairy, grain, livestock and more
👉 Explore the breath-taking scenery around Banff, Alberta including Lake Louise and Lake Morraine
👉 Finish off the trip with two-day adventure to the world-famous Calgary Stampede
✅ Get behind the scenes information during a hosted tour of the stampede
👉 9th July fly home from Calgary to Dublin

Cost & fundraising
💰 approx. £3,000.00 per person which includes (costs are only a guide price and may be subject to change)
✅ Return flights from Dublin to Calgary, including checked luggage
✅ All hotel accommodation for 13 nights
✅ Return transport costs to all visits, venues and excursion days out
✅ Entry fees and tickets to venues, tours, stampede and national parks
✅ Thank-you gifts for hosts
✅ Tips and taxes (as customary in Canada)
✅ Breakfast, lunches and dinners throughout trip
❌ Does not include additional expenses such as travel insurance, drinks, personal gifts or souvenirs
👉 Please note, selected members will be required to pay a £500.00 deposit by Monday 5th January 2026. Further information on this will be shared to successful applicants.
At present, there is no sponsorship secured for the study tour. Member will need to self-fund each place. YFCU encourages each participant to fundraise or seek sponsorship to support costs. Further information on fundraising and sponsorship proposals will be shared with selected members.
Ideas could include:
📋 Contacting your Young Farmers' club to help hold a fundraising event such as club car wash, bake sale, tractor run etc.
📋 Asking your club to help sponsor you directly
📋 Reaching out to local businesses and business owners with a proposal for sponsorship
📋 Engaging with your community organisations and asking for support
Applications & interviews
➡️ Applications must be submitted through the MS form linked above. If you require a different version, please contact YFCU HQ for assistance
➡️ Applications will close Friday 21st November at 3pm
➡️ Shortlisting will be completed during week commencing Monday 24th November
➡️ In-person interviews will take place on Saturday 29th November (location TBC, dependant on applicants)
➡️ Members will be informed of outcomes the following week
➡️ A reserve list will be created for any spaces that may become available. Members will be informed if they have been placed on the reserve list.
➡️ Successful applicants will be required to make the non-refundable* deposit payment by Monday 5th January 2026. If a deposit is not paid, your place will no longer be guaranteed
* Please note that all deposits are non-refundable, and YFCU reserves the right to enforce this policy at any time. Refunds may be considered in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of YFCU.

YFCU is proud to offer an exciting Agri-Study Tour to Canada in June/ July2026. This unique international learning experience will give members the chance to explore Canadian agriculture, gain global insight and bring new ideas home to Northern Ireland.
