The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) held their annual Digital Photography competition which saw over 150 members from clubs across Northern Ireland take part in the hope to claim the winning prizes. The theme was ‘Celebration & Fun’, which complemented the YFCU celebrating their 95th Anniversary and President Richard Beattie’s theme for the year which is FUN as an acronym for Friendships, Unites and Next Generation.
Participants were asked to capture celebrations and fun moments throughout the year, showing how YFCU members work together to create the best experiences for each other. All photographs were showcased at the annual Northern Ireland Quiz on Friday 17th January 2025 at Laurelhill Community College, Lisburn, and the winners were announced. The photos were judged by professional photographer David Scott, who has many years of experience in capturing happy moments on camera. David Scott said, “I was most impressed by the level of skill shown by members in displaying their own interpretation of the theme”.
Beth McCaw (Killinchy YFC) won first prize with her photo of a sheep with reindeer antlers, Rachel Nicholl (Moneymore YFC) won second prize with her snap of a young girl playing a musical instrument and Jill Brownlee (Bleary YFC) won third prize with her photo of a ewe and two lambs.
