The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) are proud to be represented by seven members and one past-member at the FarmFair B.E.E.F International Competition, which is taking place in Edmonton, Canada, from Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th November 2026.

For over 52 years, Farmfair International has been Canada’s premier agricultural show and Alberta’s largest beef cattle event, fostering industry connections, promoting agricultural excellence, and celebrating the rich heritage of Canadian farming.

The B.E.E.F. (Battle of Emerging Elite Farmers) International competition is a one-of-a-kind international event that brings together young people who aspire to be agricultural leaders. It isn’t just a cattle show, it’s a global experience! Open to individuals aged 18–25, the FarmFair International event brings together youth development programmes, agricultural education, international business, innovation, shopping, canine events, and family-friendly experiences all under one roof.

Representing YFCU and Northern Irish agriculture are Sophie McAllister (Lisnamurrican YFC), Jacob McAuley (Holestone YFC), Cara Millar (Coleraine YFC), James Morrison (Lisbellaw YFC), Mollie and Matthew Cochrane (Bleary YFC) and Rachel Boyce (Garvagh YFC).

The seven participants have been split into two teams and have their own team Facebook page for family and friends to follow their journey. They are Team NI Beef & Banter - FarmFair International BEEF Youth Competition and Team NI NI Maple Beef - FarmFair International BEEF Youth Competition.

Team Maple Beef consists of Jacob McAuley, Rachel Boyce and Sophie McAllister. Team Beef & Banter is made up of Cara Millar, James Morrison and Mollie & Matthew Cochrane.

You can follow their journey online via their Facebook pages named above, and visit our website next week to hear all about their experiences.
