The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU), are proud to announce that James Morrison has joined the 2026 Presidential team as Vice President.

Hailing from County Fermanagh, James is a dedicated and longstanding member of Lisbellaw Young Farmers’ Club, having joined at just 12 years of age. His passion for agriculture and commitment to the organisation reflect a strong family tradition, as a fourth-generation farmer and third-generation YFCU member.

James has played an active and influential role within the organisation, currently serving as Club Leader of Lisbellaw YFC. In addition, he holds the position of County Chairperson for Fermanagh YFC, where he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication to supporting young people in agriculture.

Currently, James is completing his second year studying a degree in Sustainable Agriculture with Agri Business at Greenmount College in Antrim. Alongside his studies, he is actively involved in farming at home and works as an auctioneer on a weekly basis. Beyond his farming commitments, James is involved in his local community. He shares his passion for music by singing in the church choir alongside his father and performing with Maguiresbridge Silver Band, while his sporting interests include playing in the front row for Clogher Valley Rugby Football Club.

Reflecting on his journey in Young Farmers, he highlights Stock Judging and Public Speaking as his favourite competitions growing up, both of which helped shape his confidence and skills. Speaking about his new role, James said he is keen to give back to the organisation that has played such an important role in his personal development. He hopes to encourage greater interaction between members and clubs, helping to build lasting friendships while motivating individuals to challenge themselves by trying new competitions. With a strong passion for livestock, James is eager to see successful competitions introduced at his home club expanded to central stage, creating more opportunities for members to develop new skills and engage more widely within the organisation.

James added, “Being part of YFCU has given me some of the greatest opportunities and friendships of my life. The biggest highlight for me has been the people I’ve met - friends I can genuinely say I’ll have for life, and individuals I would never have crossed paths with otherwise. From stock judging competitions to attending the AGM, there are countless opportunities to connect with other members. I would encourage everyone to embrace these experiences fully and make the most of everything the organisation has to offer.”

Speaking on his appointment, Chief Executive Officer for the organisation, Derek Lough, expressed his congratulations to James on joining the Presidential Team. “I am delighted to congratulate James on his appointment as one of four Vice Presidents of YFCU. His dedication, enthusiasm and leadership within his club and county have already been clearly demonstrated, and we look forward to working closely with him as he takes on this important role within the organisation.”
