Jack Hunter and Emily Maneely, members of Moneymore YFC, were honoured to be named YFCU Junior and Senior Members of the Year, one of the most prestigious awards for the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster.

With so many talented young people involved in YFCU, Emily said the recognition meant a great deal to her. The competition required a significant level of dedication and commitment. Emily was first selected by Moneymore YFC to represent the club before progressing through the county stage and ultimately reaching the Northern Ireland final. Throughout the competition, she developed valuable new skills, met new people and gained confidence that will benefit her in the future. The highlight of the experience was hearing her name announced as the winner and reflecting on the hard work and preparation that had led to that moment. Celebrating the achievement with her family and fellow club members made the occasion all the more memorable.
This was Emily’s first time winning the Junior Member of the Year title, making the success particularly meaningful. While she has taken part in many YFC competitions over the years, she regards this as her greatest achievement to date and one that she will always remember.
Winning the Senior Member of the Year competition marks a proud milestone for Jack Hunter, as he reached the final stage in 2025 and represented County Londonderry in the competition. Returning to the final this year, he was delighted to go one step further and bring the title home to Moneymore YFC. Sharing the success with Emily highlighted the strength of the club and made the AGM a memorable day for its members.
Over the past two years, Jack has dedicated countless hours to supporting Moneymore YFC, helping to organise activities, encourage members and promote opportunities for young people within the organisation. In addition to his role as Club Leader, Jack has played an active part in YFCU events and competitions, co-producing the Arts Festival and One Act Play competitions and training the club choir. His involvement extends beyond his home club, having previously served on the County Londonderry Sub-Committee and the YFCU Programme & Development Committee. He currently holds the position of County Secretary and also sits on the YFCU Executive. Jack said he was humbled and honoured to receive the award, particularly given the high calibre of members across Northern Ireland. While pleased to receive personal recognition, he emphasised that his motivation has always been to contribute positively to an organisation he is passionate about.
