Transport Assistant

The Materials Division of Northstone (NI) Limited is one of the leading quarry, civil engineering and road contractors operating in Northern Ireland and Border Counties. We have been supplying the construction industry in Northern Ireland for over 60 years with our products and have a reputation for supplying products that are of the highest quality and value for money.

We are currently seeking a Transport Assistant to assist with general admin duties within the Transport Department. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to develop in their career and experience working in a fast-paced environment. The role will be located within our Divisional Head Office based outside Coleraine, and will report to the Transport Manager.

Key Responsibilities
• Compilation of reports to show fuel usage, efficiencies, KPI’s;
• Scheduling and booking of servicing and MOT/PSV tests for vehicles;
• Administration of the Purchase Order System;
• Monitoring Tachograph Compliance;
• Capable of maintaining accurate records;
• Contribute to training and development of the team;
• Effective liaison and relationship building with hauliers;
• Assist with day-to-day tasks such as resource allocation;
• Assist in monitoring the performance of the transport department to increase efficiency and maximize service, performance, value, and profit

Requirements
• Educated to GCSE level (at least Maths and English) or the equivalent
• Good communication skills
• Interest in vehicles and transport
• Capable of work on own initiative while remaining an active part of the team
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
• Fluent on Microsoft office
• Clean Driving License
• Capable of work on own initiative while remaining an active part of the team
• Previous experience with financial accounting software would be beneficial, but not essential.
