This position will be based in the Coleraine area, however the successful candidate will be expected
to travel across various sites in NI and ROI as and when needed.


This role reports to the Bid Team Manager and Contracts Director

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be an integral part of our Bid and Contracting team, assisting with the
commercial management of projects throughout NI and ROI.

The individual will be responsible for monitoring the control of costs, maximising revenue, minimising liabilities, and maintaining the required standard of financial recording across
Northstone Materials Projects.

Key Responsibilities

· Working within the estimating team at tender stage to identify, and cost subcontract/supplier
· Review, assess and reduce commercial and contractual risks both pre and post tender award
· Build and maintain working relationships with the supply chain and clients. Assist with the
procurement of subcontractors.
· Supervision and development of more junior QS’s
· Preparation of bill of quantities and prepare quotations for asphalt surfacing and civils schemes.
· Assisting Contracts Managers and site teams in the preparation of interim applications, including
works executed, materials on site and works by subcontractors.
· Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare suitable documentation to clients.
· Monitor project expenditure against budget. Provide analysis of cost over-run and cost
projections. Exploring opportunities to maximise value and minimise cost.
· Strive for continuous improvement within the commercial process and your area of responsibility.
· Abide by all business compliance requirements in line with Company policies
· Various ad-hoc duties
as required by the Bid Team Manager.

· Possess a Quantity Surveying degree or other qualification deemed suitable by our Company’s
· At least 2 years pre and post contract experience in a Civils QS role working on major projects.
· Well-developed communication (written and oral) skills and evaluation abilities.
· Self- starter with a proven ability to work as part of a team.
· Strategic thinker with vision and diagnostic skills to evaluate and mitigate risk.
· Flexible approach to working hours and site locations in keeping with Company requirements.
· Team Player
· The ability to meet deadlines and solve problems.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Drivers Licence and strong IT skills (proficient in Word and Excel) are essential.
