Quality and Technical Placement Student – One Year

Based in Belfast, Devenish are a leading provider of environmental, animal and human health
solutions and a key influencer in driving health and sustainability throughout the food chain. Devenish
has three manufacturing sites in the UK and four in the United States, from where they supply
innovative nutritional solutions and technical expertise to producers through the farm, feed and food
industry in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australasia, Latin America, and the USA.

About the job

The Role
As a placement student you will gain experience and further your knowledge within our Quality,
Technical and Customer Services teams. You will rotate between these departments over a period
of 12 months, playing a valuable role in our business operations. Your key tasks will include:
Formulations Department:
• Liaise with our team of nutritionists, production and customer services to ensure that the
requirements of our customers are met
• Costing of premixes and updating formulations and labels to comply with current legislation
• Liaise with vets for prescriptions on a daily basis
Customer Services:
• Provide cover during our peak production and manufacturing period
• Answering phones and processing orders on our computer system
• Dealing with customer queries, account managers and liaising with production
Quality:
• Quality control cover for staff holidays
• Daily inspection and retention of samples
• Acceptance testing incoming bulk materials
• NIR analysis of selected samples
• Retention of production/quality records
• Sampling and investigation of non-conforming production batches

Essential Criteria:
• GCSE English and Maths minimum grade C or above
• Working knowledge of Microsoft apps and good ICT skills
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with respect to data and information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate
effectively across all levels
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
and work under pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build constructive working relationships and work
collaboratively with others
• Flexible and adaptable
