Job Opportunity in New Zealand

WHITE'S OATS.jpg

Job Opportunity in New Zealand for a young farmer between the ages of 18 - 30 years (age is defined by the visa available).
We are seeking a CALF REARER to join our team for Calving 2023 between July and October.

About the job

Who are we and what do we do?
Our names are Alexa and Brad Smith and we run a 2300 cow dairy farm in the remote lower south island of New Zealand. Our NZ crossbred herd are outside all year round, grass fed and milked through a 60 and an 80 bale rotary. We run a permanent team of 8 people (a mix of New Zealanders and internationals) and increase to 10 people at calving time.

What does the job involve?
We are looking for a calf rearer to join our team to rear the heifer replacements both inside the shed and then outside. Our calving date is the 1st August and a majority of the herd calve over a 6 week period but the job would continue until October. We run a 6 days on, 2 days off roster. Included in the package - your visa, accommodation, phone, internet and power and access to a vehicle for days off plus a competitive salary. The visa would be valid for 12 months so there would be an opportunity to go traveling after calving or to work elsewhere in NZ if that is something you would like to do.

What do we want from you?
Ideally we would like someone who has an interest in dairy farming and would like to experience living and working in another country. A can do attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work in a team is more critical than experience as we will provide full training. Robin Masson joined us last year and is happy to give you the low down on his experiences if you want to find out more.

If this interests you, please get in touch by emailing trammankauri@gmail.com or phoning Alexa on 0064272376079 (please don't forget there is a 12 hour time difference)!
