Job Summary

As Assistant manager for our rooftile manufacturing you will be a key member of our rooftile manufacturing team.
This role is a managerial position to develop the individual in the management and performance for the manufacturing of concrete rooftiles at our Factory in Toomebridge working with our Factory Manager in delivering and maintaining Operational Excellence for this facility.
A strategic plan for the rooftile facility is being developed, this new position demonstrates our commitment to setting our improvement targets, that the individual will be a key influencer working with his peers, and the production team to achieve.
Northstone will provide a training development program for the successful applicant to support the skills knowledge required for this
role.
The successful applicant will also be expected to be involved in other activities from time to time as required by Senior Management Team.

Based at: Toomebridge

Specific Responsibilities working with the team

▪ Support to the Factory Manager, in the quality, production, maintenance, and production teams.
▪ Ensure that roof tiles and accessories are manufactured across shift patterns and produced effectively, efficiently, safely, on-time, to specification and in a cost-effective manner.
▪ Review, develop, implement the training initiatives for a multi skilled workforce.
▪ Support in the development and management of the manufacturing function to ensure that specific KPI’s are achieved or excelled.
▪ Monitor production process and develop weekly/monthly production schedule(s) across different shift patterns.
▪ Overseeing production, identifying problems and agreeing the necessary action to resolve.
▪ Develop and agree Maintenance plans for all the production lines in the factory
▪ Present and agree manufacturing plans that will include productivity, quality improvement plans.
▪ Produce timely reports to reflect activity and forecast levels of productivity.
▪ Responsible for the technical development of product knowledge that will include the training and technical product knowledge to our production, sales, and customers
▪ ongoing performance of the rooftile factory location, striving for continuous improvement that includes all production, sales, despatch.
▪ Involved in the introduction and further develop the manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing techniques.
▪ Contribute to the rolling strategic plan for manufacturing and ensure that it is implemented as agreed.
▪ Develop an effective and efficient 24 / 7 production capability of skilled workforce and machinery.
▪ Uphold the Northstone Health and Safety standard .
▪ Undertake other managerial tasks/ projects as required for the Company, to the time frame agreed.
▪ Develop and build the rooftile team to be multiskilled and knowledgeable of the quality products we produce and sell. Personal Profile

Personal Profile

▪ Preferably educated to degree level, in a Business or Engineering discipline.
▪ Proven track record delivering results within a large production facility.
▪ Strong understanding of production best practice e.g. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TQM (Total Quality Management) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
▪ Proactive self-starter with the proven ability to lead and work as part of a team.
▪ Strong IT competence with previous experience using MS Office applications.
▪ Ability to work to deadlines in a high volume manufacturing environment.
▪ Well-developed communication and evaluation abilities.
▪ Good commercial acumen with experience delivering process / product improvements in a highly competitive environments.
▪ Strong Technical problem solving ability, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
▪ Flexible approach to working hours.
▪ Administrative skills and attention to detail.
▪ Excellent written & oral communication skills
▪ Organisational Skills with an understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques
▪ Planning/Strategic Skills (good analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective decisions)
▪ Clean drivers licence
