Proficiency Award Scheme - Rewarding Members
When a member competes in the central competition they will be awarded a proficiency.
- Proficiencies are awarded as follows:
- An award of Merit (40%) is worth 1 point
- An award of Distinction (75%) is worth 2 points
In some competitions members will only achieve an award of merit (choir, arts festival, one act/three act, photographic, swimming gala).
In some competitions proficiencies are awarded at club level (home management, craft).
To gain a proficiency badge members must gain enough points according to their age group:
- 12-14 years - 6 points from a minimum of 4 competitions
- 14-16 years - 8 points from a minimum of 5 competitions
- 16-18 years - 10 points from a minimum of 6 competitions
- 18-21 years - 12 points from a minimum of 7 competitions
- 21-25 years - 12 points from a minimum of 7 competitions
If you do not get enough points to gain your next badge, you can gain it the following year!
The highest badge awarded is Number 13
The competition year runs from 1st September - 31st August
In November members are notified if they have gained enough points to gain a proficiency badge. Badge 1 is automatically sent out; badges 2-3 have to be claimed. Clubs can claim badges altogether.
Each time a member qualifies for a badge they trade in their existing badge for one with a higher number.
All members achievements are listed on a certificate which is forwarded to their club in time for Parents' Night
